The Air Force plans to announce which airmen will be promoted to staff sergeant the morning of Aug. 20, the Air Force Personnel Center said Wednesday.
In a post on its Facebook page, AFPC said the E-5 selection list will be posted on myPers at 8 a.m. Central Time.
Staff sergeant announcements typically come in early August, meaning this year's will be later than in most years. AFPC has not yet said why the staff sergeant announcement is coming later in the month.
The 2014 announcement came July 10, but that promotion cycle's testing window was moved up to ensure senior airmen who were selected for promotion didn't have to face an enlisted retention board as part of the force management process.
The E-5 announcements in 2011, 2012 and 2013 came on Aug. 4, 2 and 1, respectively. The 2010 announcement came on Aug. 19 that year.
The Air Force said in May that there would be 48,783 airmen eligible to test for staff sergeant this year. Last year, the Air Force selected 9,403 of 36,739 eligible airmen for promotion, for a selection rate of 25.59 percent.
