Support group commander at Osan Air Base relieved of duties

The Air Force relieved the commander of a support unit at Osan Air Base in South Korea, according to Stars and Stripes.

Col. Kerry Proulx, commander of the 51st Mission Support Group, was relieved of her duties on Friday due to a “loss of confidence in her ability to effectively lead,” the newspaper reported.

According to Stars and Stripes, Air Force officials didn’t elaborate on the specifics.

Proulx had overseen the group since July 2016, where she provided direction for five squadrons with more than 2,600 personnel, including the largest security forces squadron in the Pacific, according to her Air Force bio.

“This was a tremendously difficult and unfortunate decision to make, but it’s the right direction for the 51st Fighter Wing,” Col. William Betts, the wing’s commander, said in a statement provided to Stars and Stripes.

Col. Kevin Mantovani will assume command of the unit on Tuesday, according to the statement.
