The Air Force announced Wednesday it had selected 319 officers for promotion to major, lieutenant colonel and colonel.
In its release, the Air Force Personnel Center said that promotion boards selected 20 out of 34 officers for promotion to colonel, 98 out of 141 officers for promotion to lieutenant colonel, and 201 out of 216 officers up for promotion to major. In all, there was an 82 percent selection rate for all officers up for promotion in this cycle.
The bulk of those selected for promotion were 99 Nurse Corps captains selected for promotion to major. Another 61 major selectees were in the Line of the Air Force-judge advocate general category, and 41 more major selectees were Medical Services Corps officers. All but two of those major selectees were in the promotion zone; there was one above-the-zone nurse and one above-the-zone MSC selectee.
Among those selected for lieutenant colonel were 45 JAGs and 53 nurses. There were five above-the-zone JAGs and five above-the-zone nurses, one below-the-zone JAG, and 5 below-the-zone nurses. All others were in-the-zone.
And for colonel selectees, three were in-the-zone chaplains and three were above-the-zone chaplains. There were also 10 in-the-zone MSC selectees, and three above-the-zone MSC selectees.
