President Barack Obama has nominated 20 Air Force officers for general officer promotions, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced Monday, including 19 colonels who will be pinning on their first star.

If confirmed by the Senate, Maj. Gen. John D. Bansemer would receive his third star and a new assignment as the assistant director of national intelligence for partner engagement, for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in Washington, D.C. Bansemer is now deputy chief of the National Security Agency's Central Security Service at the National Security Agency.

In addition, these are the 19 colonels nominated for promotion to brigadier general:

  • John Degoes, currently command surgeon at U.S. Northern Command headquarters at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.
  • James Dienst, command surgeon at Air Force Reserve Command headquarters at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.
  • Mark Koeniger, deputy director for medical operations and research at the Office of the Surgeon General, Falls Church, Virginia.
  • Lee Ann Benneett, mobilization assistant to the commander of the 25th Air Force at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
  • Patricia Beyer, mobilization assistant to the commander of the Air Force Legal Operations Agency at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
  • Daniel Heires, mobilization assistant to the commander, 2nd Air Force, Air Education and Training Command, at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.
  • Richard Casto, mobilization assistant to the director of operations and training, deputy chief of staff for operations, at Air Force headquarters at the Pentagon.
  • Tracey Siems, mobilization assistant to the deputy assistant secretary for budget, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller at the Pentagon.
  • Albert Lupenski, commander of the 439th Airlift Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts.
  • Jonathan Ellis, mobilization assistant for the director of operations, Air Force Global Strike Command Headquarters, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.
  • James Fontanella, commander of the Force Generation Center at Air Force Reserve Command headquarters, Robins Air Force Base.
  • Russell Muncy, commander of the 452nd Air Mobility Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, March Air Reserve Base, California.
  • John Healy, mobilization assistant to the commander, 618th Air Operations Center, Tanker Airlift Control Center, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
  • Russell Reimer, mobilization assistant to the commander of the Air Force Test Center, Air Force Material Command, Edwards Air Force Base, California.
  • Robert Huston, mobilization assistant to the vice commander, 3rd Air Force and 17th Expeditionary Air Force, U.S. Air Forces in Europe at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
  • William Kountz Jr., associate director of logistics, for the deputy chief of staff for logistics, engineering, and force protection at Air Force headquarters.
  • Harold Rogers Jr., mobilization assistant to the vice commander, 7th Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, Osan Air Base, South Korea.
  • Christopher Lentz, mobilization assistant to the command surgeon at Air Mobility Command headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
  • Tyler Otten, mobilization assistant to the commander of the 11th Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
