TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Family and friend of soldiers who died while training in Tucson in 1944 are rededicating a bridge in their honor.

KGUN-TV reports that the family members placed two new plaques on Airmen Memorial Bridge dedicated to the 18 people who died. The bridge opened in January without the men's names on it.

The airmen were killed on board two B-24 Liberator Bombers that collided midair while training for combat in World War II.

Family who dedicated the bridge came from seven states across the country to be a part of the rededication ceremony.
