The Pentagon stopped accepting deliveries of the newest F-35 Joint Strike Fighters in summer 2023 as software problems snarled the jets' latest upgrades. As recently released data from the military services has shown, the participation of women in elite special operations roles remains a rarity. Friday's drill involved F-35A fighter jets from both countries and other fighter jets from South Korea. Davis-Monthan received its first A-10 in 1976. The pilot in Wednesday's F-16 crash off the coast of South Korea is in "good condition," 7th Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. David Iverson said Thursday. If the F-35 upgrades known as Technology Refresh 3 aren't ready for deliveries to resume in the third quarter, Lockheed said it may slow down production. The delays could have a cascading effect that hurts the Air Force’s ability to manage its units worldwide. The Pentagon has also paused negotiations on a performance-based logistics contract for the F-35 after cost and performance estimates underwhelmed. Rep. Rob Wittman, R-Va., said the F-35 program has moved at "breakneck speed" to get capabilities and spare parts to Israel's fighter jets. “The hardware is good,” Lt. Gen. Michael Schmidt said. “It’s the rate at which they’re producing them to meet our production and retrofit needs." Load More
