The Air Force has selected 1,447 officers for promotion to major, lieutenant colonel, and colonel, the Air Force Personnel Center said Monday.
Fifteen will get to pin on an eagle as a colonel, 1,279 will become lieutenant colonels, and 153 captains will be promoted to major.
The promotions, the Air Force said, are from the 2016B Colonel Biomedical Sciences Corps, Lieutenant Colonel Line of the Air Force, Medical Service Corps and Biomedical Sciences Corps, and Major Biomedical Sciences Corps central selection boards.
There were 145 lieutenant colonels up for promotion, resulting in a selection rate of roughly 10 percent. Of those, one was above the promotion zone, one was below the zone, and the rest were in the zone.
Of the 6,359 majors considered for promotion the selection rate was about 20 percent. 39 were above the promotion zone and 126 were below.
And there were 190 captains considered for promotion, leading to a selection rate of 80.5 percent. Five were above the zone and zero were below the zone.
