An airman from the 964th Airborne Air Control Squadron at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, who had gone missing and was declared absent without leave last week, was found safe Monday night.
Senior Airman Scott Young was found near St. Paul, Minnesota, at about 10 p.m. Monday, according to a release posted online Tuesday by the 552nd Air Control Wing. Young was reported AWOL from his unit March 27, after he did not report for duty or check in with supervisors.
His disappearance, motivations and intent are now under investigation, the wing said.

Col. Geoffrey Weiss, wing commander of the 552nd, said law enforcement officials — including U.S. marshals and personnel from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations — found Young and took him safely into custody in the St. Paul area.
“We were able to pinpoint his location and safely apprehend Senior Airman Young thanks to the remarkable efforts and cooperation of a dedicated team of [Air Force] OSI investigators, the U.S. marshals, and other federal, local and base officials,” Weiss said. “We are also very grateful to the local community for getting the word out so quickly.”
