An Air Force master sergeant will face charges of possessing child pornography, a New Jersey prosecutor announced Thursday.
Gerard Cameron, 41, is charged with both possessing and distributing child pornography after prosecutors said he downloaded multiple images onto his home computer and then used a file sharing service to make the pictures available to others.
Cameron is a superintendent of aircrew flight equipment as part of the 305th Operations Support Squadron located at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, according to Air Force personnel records.
He entered service in Aug. 1991 and has received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Air Force Achievement Medal, the records show.
New Jersey law enforcement officers said they seized several digital devices during a search of Cameron's residence Wednesday.
Cameron was taken to the Burlington County Jail, in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, on $100,000 bail. Burlington County prosecutors said that if he posts bail, Cameron would be forbidden from using the Internet internet or having contact with children.
