Three contractors were killed Thursday in a shooting at Kabul International Airport, according to a spokesman for the U.S. mission in Afghanistan.
"We can confirm that there was a shooting incident at North Kabul International Airport complex 29 January at approximately 6:40pm.," Army Lt. Col. Chris Belcher said in an email to Military Times. "Three coalition contractors were killed as was an Afghan local national. This incident is under investigation. Further information will be released as available and appropriate."
Belcher declined to say what nationalities the contractors are, saying it is up to the countries from which the contractors came to confirm they have been killed.
Asked if the dead Afghan national was the shooter in Thursday's attack, Belcher said: "It's under investigation. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to comment on something like that until an investigation has been initiated and complete."
