The mission of tactical air control party airmen includes embeds with ground forces to perform air-to-ground integration. The tests these airmen must pass and the skills they must demonstrate:
Finish 1.5-mile run in 10:47
Do six pull-ups in two minutes
Do 48 sit-ups in two minutes
Do 40 push-ups in two minutes
Among required skills:
Execute ruck march; traverse over adverse terrain.
React to direct and indirect fire, far and near ambush.
Manually breach entry with sledge hammer, battering ram or kicking.
Eliminate threats room to room.
Attack, defend against and grapple with enemy.
Transport casualties by one-man carry or drag, or two-man litter.
Extract personnel from vehicles or confined spaces.
Disembark helicopter via fastrope with combat load
Clear landing zones and build defensive fighting positions.
Assemble and disassemble radio mounts, and move radio pallet through tight spaces.
