Enlisted airmen in 190 different jobs have the chance of getting one of 642 professional certifications and licenses through the new Air Force Credentialing Opportunities On-Line program. Here are some examples of the many certifications airmen can get in their career fields:
3D0X2 Cyber systems operations
What they do: Install, support and maintain servers and other computer systems and plan how to fix service outages and network interruptions.
Certifications they could be eligible for: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Project Management Professional, Linux Professional, Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator, Cisco Certified Network Professional Security.
Civilian jobs they might get: Information technology project manager, computer systems analyst, database administrator.
2A3X4 Fighter aircraft integrated avionics
What they do: Repair and inspect the integrated avionics systems for A-10s, U-2s, CV-22s, F-15s and F-16s, and find malfunctions.
Certifications they could be eligible for: Certified Aerospace Technician, Avionics Electronics Technician, Radar Electronics Technician, Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic.
Civilian jobs they might get: Aircraft mechanic, avionics technician, aerospace engineering and operations technician, first-line supervisor of mechanics, installers and repairers.
4R0X1 Diagnostic imaging
What they do: Operate equipment to take X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound and other diagnostic images, and help radiologists and physicians with special procedures. Prepare equipment and patients for diagnostic studies and therapy.
Certifications they could be eligible for: Certified Medical Dosimetrist, Certified Radiology Administrator, Mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist, Nuclear Medical Technology.
Civilian jobs they might get: Radiation therapist, diagnostic medical sonographer, MRI technologist, radiologic technician.
3P0X1 Security forces
What they do: Provide security for installations, weapons systems and other resources, conduct investigations and other law enforcement duties.
Certifications they could be eligible for: Certified Legal Investigator, Certified Security Professional, Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst, Background Investigation Certification, Certified Corrections Officer.
Civilian jobs they might get: Police detective, security manager, probation officer and correctional treatment specialist, bailiff.
