DURHAM, N.H. — The first woman to lead a top-tier U.S. warfighting command is sending off University of New Hampshire's class of 2017 with a message to strengthen their communities, the nation and the world.

Air Force Gen. Lori Robinson, a 1981 graduate of the university, said at Saturday's commencement ceremony in Durham that service takes many forms, not just military service. And she said it's the job of all graduates to use their skills to make a difference.

Robinson is one of two female four-star generals in the Air Force. She currently leads the U.S. Northern Command and the North American Aerospace Defense Command.

Plymouth State University, Saint Anselm College and Nashua Community College also are holding commencement ceremonies on Saturday.
