Two Marine generals have been nominated for new posts, according to an announcement today from Defense Secretary Ash Carter.

Lt. Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr. has been tapped for assignment as director, strategic plans and policy, J-5, with the Joint Staff, and senior member of U.S. delegation to the United Nations Military Staff Committee. He currently now serves as the commander of Marine Corps Forces Central Command, out of MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.

If confirmed, McKenzie would replace Navy Vice Adm. Frank Pandolfe at the post, which Pandolfe has held since December 2013.
