FB: Inherent Resolve continues. U.S., coalition aircraft keep hitting the Islamic State, while airstrikes have fallen to a new low in Afghanistan.

Airstrikes against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria continued at a steady rate in February, while as humanitarian airdrops in the region appear to have ended, according to new statistics released this week.

The Operation Inherent Resolve coalition in February dropped 1,756 bombs on targets in Iraq and Syria. In January, the coalition dropped 2,308 weapons in the fight, the most since the operation began with a low of 211 strikes August 2014. The coalition has averaged 1,421 strikes monthly over seven months.

Since January So far this year, coalition aircraft have flown 937 sorties with at least one bomb dropped. In addition, they have flown 1,221 surveillance flights, 937 sorties with at least one bomb dropped and 2,163 tanker sorties.

Over At the same two months time, no however, coalition aircraft have stopped airdropping supplies in the region. There has not been a pound of supplies have been airdropped in 2015, compared to more than 1.4 million pounds airdropped between August and December of 2014, according to the statistics released by Air Forces Central Command. No explanation for the change was given.

While operations in Iraq and Syria have remained steady, aircrews continue to see declining operations in Afghanistan. There were only 36 airstrikes in that battle in February, the lowest number at least since 2009. There have been no zero casualty evacuation sorties so far this year.

So far this year, there have been 1,200 airlift sorties and 2,335 aircraft refueling as part of Operation Resolute Support.
