An airman from Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota, was arrested on Wednesday as part of a child pornography investigation, Grand Forks police announced on Wednesday.

Staff Sgt. Melbourne Michael Anderson was charged with "Possession of Certain Materials Prohibited" after three unrelated search warrants were executed by Grand Forks police, the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations and Air Force Office of Special Investigations executed three unrelated search warrants on Wednesday, according to a Grand Forks Police Department news release.

A spokesman at Grand Forks Air Force Base deferred questions to OSI spokeswoman Linda Card, who declined to comment on Thursday.

Anderson is an information assurance officer assigned to the 319th Readiness Squadron, according to the Air Force Personnel Center. He entered active duty in February 2009 and has received the Air Force Achievement Medal.

The investigation into Anderson is ongoing, the news release says. The charge against him was forwarded to the Grand Forks State's Attorney's office for further review.

"The second case is still being investigated and no further information will be released at this time," the news release says. "The third case is being investigated by the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations with assistance from the agencies previously mentioned."
