An Air Force physician lieutenant colonel in Kadena, Japan, has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in Thailand, according to the Air Force.

Lt. Col. Mark A. Anderson faces charges of sexual assault causing bodily harm, adultery and failing to obey a lawful order, according to the Air Force Judge Advocate General court-martial docket. His court-martial is slated for June 8 in Kadena.

A charge sheet alleges that Anderson sexually assaulted the woman on two separate occasions between Jan. 30 and Feb. 7, 2014. Anderson is accused of "binding her wrists and holding her down" during the assaults, the charge sheet says. The charge sheet does not specify whether the alleged victim is a service member.

Attempts to reach Anderson for comment have not been were unsuccessful.

Because he is married, Anderson faces a charge of adultery, the charge sheet says. He is also charged with "wrongfully having guests in government billeting" between Jan. 20 and Feb. 24, 2014.

The woman's name was redacted from the charge sheet, which says that Anderson is serving with the Special Operations Support Squadron.

Air Force officials in the U.S. told Air Force Times that Anderson's current duty title is 353rd Special Operations Group surgeon general and operations support medical flight commander. He has not seen patients since the investigation started.

From Jan. 27 to Feb. 7, 2014 airmen with the 353rd Special Operations Group took part in Exercise Teak Torch in in Udon Thani along with members of the Royal Thai Air Force.

A Feb. 20, 2014 Air Force news story quoted Anderson as saying the U.S. and Thai airmen trained for combat casualty evacuation and combat casualty care.

"We made new friends," Anderson says in the story. "We were able to participate in several events outside of training as well, which solidified long lasting friendships."
