Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Thursday that the president has nominated:

Lt. Gen. Tod Wolters for assignment as deputy chief of staff, operations, plans and requirements, at Air Force headquarters. He is currently commander, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), Air Combat Command, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.

Brig. Gen. VeraLinn Jamieson for appointment to the rank of major general. She is director of intelligence, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh announced Sept. 10 two new assignments:

Brig. Gen. James Dawkins Jr., principal assistant deputy administrator for military application at the Office of Defense Programs, National Nuclear Security Administration, Energy Department, becomes director, strategic capabilities policy at the National Security Council.

Brig. Gen. Stephen Davis, assistant deputy director, nuclear, homeland defense and current operations, J-33, Joint Staff, Pentagon, replaces Dawkins at the Energy Department.

Welsh announced Sept. 5 the assignment of Brig. Gen. Paul H. Guemmer, deputy director, Strategy, Capabilities, Policy and Logistics, Headquarters U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, to commander, Jeanne M. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen Development, Air University, Air Education and Training Command, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
