Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James is going to get a whole new perspective on some airmen's mission next week.

James will participate in a tandem parachute jump at Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico with members of the 26th Special Tactics Squadron on May 17, the Air Force said in a release.

James will be visiting Cannon, home of the 27th Special Operations Wing, May 17 and 18 to meet with airmen there and learn more about how special operations airmen do their jobs.

The jump will allow James to get a "first-hand understanding of how [Air Force Special Operations Command] air commandos train, ultimately demonstrating the professionalism and precision capabilities of the wing's air commandos," the release said.

The 26th is part of the 24th Special Operations Wing, which is located at Hurlburt Field, Florida. But the 26th squadron routinely conducts training jumps at Cannon, to teach them how to infiltrate hostile or remote areas where aircraft can't land, according to the Air Force release.
