Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James announced in February that the service's newest bomber will be dubbed the B-21.

But it still doesn't have a name.

Currently called the "Long Range Strike Bomber" or "LRSB" for short, the Air Force is seeking submissions on what to call the newest aircraft.

"I'm challenging and I'm calling on every airman," James said at the Air Force Association conference in Orlando, Fla. "We want our active-duty, our [Air] National Guard, our Reserve, our civilians, our family members. We'd like all of you to give us your best suggestions for a name for the B-21, America's newest bomber."

On Monday the Air Force released a submission form and official guidelines for anyone that wants to suggest a name.

Names should be no longer than two words, and you must include a description (maximum of 200 words) on why you think the name is a good fit.

The top ten finalists will be selected by a panel of officials from Global Strike Command and Air Force Headquarters, then submitted to James and Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh for final consideration.

There's a limit of three submissions per person, and entries are due May 6.

An unofficial poll conducted by Defense News – Air Force Times' sister publication – found that "Valkyrie" was the most popular suggestion, with "Wraith" coming in second.

The bomber will join the B-52 Stratofortress, B-1 Lancer, and B-2 Spirit.
