The Air Force has selected 1,096 first lieutenants to be promoted to captain, the Air Force Personnel Center said Tuesday.

The overall selection rate for the captains' 2015C quarterly selection process was 98.5 percent, slightly lower than the 99 percent selection rate during the previous captain promotions last October.

Among those selected were 941 officers in the Line of the Air Force category. The selection list also includes three chaplains, 15 LAF Judge Advocates, 91 Nurse Corps officers, six Medical Service Corps officers and 40 Biomedical Sciences Corps officers.

Of the selectees, one LAF first lieutenant and one biomedical sciences corps first lieutenant were above the promotion zone. All others were in-the-zone. There were no below-the-zone officers considered.

All eligible chaplains, JAGs and Medical Service Corps officers were selected for promotion. The LAF, Nurse Corps and Biomedical Sciences Corps categories had in-the-zone selection rates of 98.9 percent, 97.8 percent and 97.5 percent.

All but one of the 216 eligible in-the-zone pilots were promoted, and the one eligible above-the-zone pilot was passed over.

All 80 eligible in-the-zone navigators and 33 eligible in-the-zone air battle managers were promoted; the one above-the-zone air battle manager who was eligible was passed over.

Of the 205 non-rated ops officers, all but two were promoted. And of the 416 in-the-zone mission support officers, 409 were promoted. Two above-the-zone mission support officers were considered for promotion; one was chosen.
