The Air Force on Tuesday posted a half-hour video briefing outlining the new enlisted performance system on its internal myPers website.

The Air Force also released the video to Air Force Times. The narrated video — containing more than 40 slides — shows the briefing that Air Force officials are giving to airmen around the world as part of the so-called roadshow tour.

Officials are holding the in-person briefings at some 91 installations to give airmen there a chance to ask questions. But some airmen and observers previously criticized the Air Force for not holding a webcast or releasing the slides online, to give airmen who couldn't make one of those briefings a chance to learn about the new evaluation and promotion system.

The Air Force is now in the final stages of a massive overhaul of how enlisted airmen are evaluated and promoted, and is putting into place a new system that aims to rely much more heavily on airmen's performance. One of the central parts of the new system are quotas that limit how many airmen can get the top promotion recommendations. This aims to eliminate the grade inflation that left the old system effectively incapable of differentiating between airmen's performance.
