AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — The first female superintendent of the Air Force Academy is inviting Ellen DeGeneres to bring her television talk show to the school and offered to arrange a flight with the Air Force Thunderbirds.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports a tweet from Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson's official Twitter account Wednesday invited DeGeneres to the school in Colorado Springs.

Neither DeGeneres nor her producers immediately responded to the invitation. "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" appears on NBC.

Johnson's tweet noted she is the first woman to lead the school, a fact she seldom mentions.

Academy spokesman Meade Warthen confirmed the tweet was authentic. He said Johnson wants to raise the school's profile.

The Thunderbirds squadron performs a fly-over at academy's May graduation ceremony. The pilots sometimes take celebrities aloft for publicity flights.
