LAS VEGAS – Clark County commissioners are set to honor Air Force personnel who pulled a couple from their vehicle before flash floodwaters swept it away earlier this month.
The airmen are set to be recognized at a commission meeting on Tuesday morning.
The dramatic rescue about 30 miles north of Las Vegas happened Aug. 4 and was captured on video by bystander Doug Bennett.
Bennett says a Ford sedan and a Prius were stuck in the mud of a median on U.S. 95 when a wall of water drew near.
He says a group of U.S. Air Force personnel pulled a woman out of the Prius seconds before it was swept away and flipped over.
Southern Nevada is experiencing monsoon season, when summer rains can quickly lead to dangerous flash floods.
