Russians and Americans came together Friday at Arlington National Cemetery to pay tribute to the U.S. and Soviet forces who met in Germany on April 25, 1945, marking the culmination of a combined effort to defeat Nazi Germany.

Veterans from both countries attended Friday's ceremony along with Victoria Nuland, of the State Department, and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Many attending the event hoped that the U.S. and Russia could renew their cooperation from 70 years ago.
