Airman’s lawyer wants porn sentencing delay

DOVER, Del. — The attorney for a former Dover Air Force Base airman who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography is asking that his sentencing be postponed.

Staff Sgt. Christopher Brandli's public defender said in court papers Friday that a psychological evaluation of Brandli will not be completed in time for attorneys to submit sentencing memoranda as planned. The defense is asking that the Feb. 29 sentencing be postponed for at least 30 days.

The defense also says attorneys need more time to address several sentencing-related issues that have arisen recently, but it did not provide details.

Brandli faces up to 10 years for possessing child porn. He initially was charged with transporting child pornography on computer hard drives he took on a deployment to the Middle East in 2010. He pleaded guilty in November.
