2 general officer promotions announced

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Thursday said that President Obama has made two general officer nominations.

• Brig. Gen. Mark A. Ediger has been nominated for his second star. He will still serve as commander, Air Force Medical Operations Agency, Office of the Surgeon General, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

• Maj. Gen. Craig A. Franklin has been nominated for his third star and will be commander, 3rd Air Force, U.S. Air Forces Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Franklin is vice director, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington.
