Falcons cornerback taken off field on stretcher

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Air Force senior cornerback Reggie Rembert had feeling in all extremities after injuring his neck on a tackle against Northwestern State on Saturday.

Rembert raised his right hand and gave a thumbs-up to the crowd as he left Falcon Stadium on a stretcher. He was taken to a hospital for X-rays.

Rembert was injured in the first quarter when he brought down Demons tailback Sterling Endsley after a short pass.

Players gathered around Rembert as he lay on the turf for nearly 10 minutes. Coach Troy Calhoun came over and patted Rembert on the pads.

Rembert is one of the Mountain West Conference’s top defensive backs. He also returns punts.

The Falcons won their opener, 65-21, scoring 41 points in the second half.

Two Northwestern State players were taken off on stretchers after suffering neck injuries: offensive lineman Josh Cunningham in the second quarter and safety Lance Lacoste in the third quarter.
