RICHMOND, Va. — Gov. Bob McDonnell on Friday announced the appointment of Army Maj. Gen. Daniel Long as adjutant general of the Virginia National Guard, effective July 14.
Long has been a member of the Virginia Army National Guard since 1964. His commands include a light engineer company, a light combat battalion, and a light infantry brigade.
He also was commander of Task Force Care in Louisiana, where he coordinated Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
