Offutt airman pleads guilty to shooting buddy

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. — An airman was sentenced Tuesday to five years of confinement and faces a dishonorable discharge after pleading guilty to fatally shooting a buddy during a game of “Trust.”
Airman 1st Class Corey Hernandez, 21, of Walnut, Calif., was charged with manslaughter and giving false information to a police officer. His court-martial took place Tuesday.
According to reports by the Omaha World-Herald, Hernandez will be eligible for parole in 20 months.
Senior Airman Michael Garcia, 23, of San Benito, Texas, died in the Dec. 11 shooting at a Bellevue, Neb., apartment.
