29 colonels nominated for first star

Twenty-nine colonels have been nominated for promotion to brigadier general, the Defense Department announced this week.

In addition, DoD also announced six one-stars will be moving to new assignments.

The officers nominated for promotion are:

* Col. David W. Allvin, military fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City.

* Col. Balan R. Ayyar, military assistant to the Secretary of Defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

* Col. Thomas W. Bergeson, commander, 3rd Wing, Pacific Air Forces at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.

* Col. Jack L. Briggs II, director, inspections, Office of the Inspector General at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Rosslyn, Va.

* Col. James S. Browne, commander, 325th Fighter Wing, Air Education and Training Command at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.

* Col. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr., vice commander, Air Armament Center, Air Force Materiel Command at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

* Col. Theresa C. Carter, director, installations and mission support, Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

* Col. Scott L. Dennis, deputy director, air operations, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Plans and Requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon.

* Col. John W. Doucette, special assistant to the director of the joint staff for general officer and flag officer matters, Joint Staff at the Pentagon.

* Col. Sandra E. Finan, inspector general, Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command at Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

* Col. Donald S. George, commander, National Air and Space Intelligence Center, Headquarters Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

* Col. Jerry D. Harris, Jr., assistant director of operations, plans, requirements and programs, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

* Col. Kevin J. Jacobsen, director, special investigations, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force Inspector General at the Pentagon.

* Col. Scott W. Jansson, vice commander, Ogden Air Logistics Center, Air Force Materiel Command at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

* Col. Richard A. Klumpp, Jr., inspector general, Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base.

* Col. Leslie A. Kodlick, director, public affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force at the Pentagon.

* Col. Gregory J. Lengyel, commander, 1st Special Operations Wing, Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field, Fla.

* Col. James F. Martin Jr., director, Air Force budget programs, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller at the Pentagon.

* Col. Robert D. McMurry, commander, airborne laser program, Aeronautical Systems Center, Air Force Materiel Command at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.

* Col. Edward M. Minahan, executive officer to the deputy commander, U.S. European Command, Headquarters U.S. European Command in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany.

* Col. Jon A. Norman, special assistant to the vice commander, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), Air Combat Command at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz.

* Col. James N. Post III, commander, 354th Fighter Wing, Pacific Air Forces at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska.

* Col. Steven M. Shepro, commander, 316th Wing, Air Force District of Washington at Andrews Air Force Base, Md.

* Col. Jay B. Silveria, commander, 48th Fighter Wing, U.S. Air Forces in Europe at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom.

* Col. David D. Thompson, director, Space Forces, Air Forces Central, Air Combat Command in Al Udeid, Qatar.

* Col. William J. Thornton, commander, 412th Test Wing, Air Force Materiel Command at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.

* Col. Kenneth E. Todorov, executive officer to the commander, Headquarters U.S. Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.

* Col. Linda R. Urrutia-Varhall, senior military assistant to the under secretary of defense (intelligence), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Intelligence) at the Pentagon.

* Col. Burke E. Wilson, commander, 45th Space Wing, Air Force Space Command at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.

The brigadier generals selected for new assignments are:

* Brig. Gen. Charles W. Lyon, who is director, joint integration, Directorate of Operational Capability Requirements, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon. He will become director, Air Component Coordination Element, U.S. Air Forces Central Command, Air Combat Command, Kabul, Afghanistan.

* Brig. Gen. Stephen W. Wilson, who is commander, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Air Combat Command in Al Udeid. He will succeed Lyon.

* Brig. Gen. Randy A. Kee, who is vice commander, 618th Tanker Airlift Control Center, Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base. He will succeed Wilson.

* Brig. Gen. Carlton D. Everhart II, who is deputy commander, political-military affairs, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, U.S. Central Command, Kabul, Afghanistan. He will succeed Kee.

* Brig. Gen. Barbara J. Faulkenberry, who is commander, 15th Expeditionary Mobility Task Force, Air Mobility Command at Travis Air Force Base, Calif. She will become deputy director for logistics, U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany.

* Brig. Gen. Frederick H. Martin, who is deputy director for logistics, U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart. He will succeed Faulkenberry.
