Fewer than 10 percent of eligible master sergeants have been selected for promotion to senior master sergeant, Air Force officials announced Feb. 26.

Of the 13,741 eligible master sergeants, 1,269 were selected for promotion to E-8 — a selection rate of 9.24 percent. Every master sergeant selected recorded a perfect score of 135 on his enlisted performance report.

The average score for those selected was 665.85. The average score was based on the following point averages: 135 for EPRs, 21.30 for decorations, 61.47 on the Air Force supervisory examination and a 394.06 board score.

The selected airmen have an average time in grade of 4.38 years and an average time in service of 20.2 years.

The list of airmen selected for promotion will be released at 8 a.m. Central time March 4 on the Air Force Personnel Center’s public Web site, www.afpc.randolph.af.mil, and its Ask Web site, http://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil. Airmen can access their score notices at the same time on the virtual Military Personnel Flight and the Air Force Portal.

Those selected will be promoted according to their promotion sequence numbers beginning in April.
