Welcome-home celebration for airmen at Hanscom

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. — Hanscom Air Force Base has scheduled a welcome-home celebration for personnel returning from overseas deployments.
Col. David Orr, 66th Air Base Wing commander, will welcome base personnel Friday who have been deployed primarily to Iraq and Afghanistan.
The festivities include honoring the families of the military men and women, and honoring community groups that have helped them. They include the Girl Scouts, who collected more than 35,000 boxes of cookies as well as 10,000 cards and letters, to send to troops overseas.
A local organizer of the Cell Phones for Soldiers program is also scheduled to be honored.
The event will feature appearance by former New England Patriots offensive lineman and Pro Football Hall of Famer John Hannah, as well as the Patriots cheerleaders.
