Airman acquitted in slaying of comrade

TUCSON, Ariz. — An airman at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base has been acquitted in the slaying of another airman two years ago.
A base spokeswoman says a court martial panel on Tuesday found Senior Airman Philip Andre Howard not guilty of the June 2007 death of Airman 1st Class Brian Santos.
Authorities say Santos died from multiple blows to the head that cracked his skull after he and Howard got into a fight at a Tucson house party.
Howard wasn't charged with the murder until last April.
His enlistment expired two years ago, but the Air Force kept him on active duty to retain legal jurisdiction over him.
