AF rugby team beats Army for championship

The Air Force rugby team won its sixth consecutive Armed Forces Rugby Championship title Friday, beating Army 34-0.
Air Force’s defense shut down its opponents’ offense in each of five tournament games played Wednesday through Friday. Only the Navy team was able to score, but Air Force still won, 52-3, in a rout. Air Force beat the Army early in the tournament, 43-0, before gaining a shot at the championship game by beating the Coast Guard, 52-0, and the Marine Corps, 45-0.
In consolation play Friday, the Marine Corps team beat Navy, 34-10.
The Armed Forces Sports Programs include 18 Armed Forces Championships, seven national championships and 20 international championships within the Conseil International de Sports Militaire (CISM).
