The base exchange and commissary at Langley Air Force Base, Va., were evacuated this morning because of a suspicious package found at the BX.
The 1st Security Forces Squadron responded at 10 a.m. to a call about the package, and called in threat specialists after the buildings were cleared. The 1st Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal team examined the package remotely, determined that it was not hazardous, and swept the surrounding area to ensure that it was clear.
The evacuation order was lifted at about noon.
