AFPC seeks Airmen of the Year nominations
Posted : Tuesday Oct 13, 2009 17:12:46 EDT
The Air Force Personnel Center is seeking nominations for the 2010 Outstanding Airmen of the Year Award, officials announced Tuesday.
Nominations for the 12 winners are due April 22.
The award is divided into three categories — airman, noncommissioned Officer and senior NCO.
Major commands and the Air Force District of Washington each are to nominate three candidates, one for each category. Nominees must be submitted based on achievements that occurred from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.
Submissions will go to the Outstanding Airmen of the Year selection board.
Nomination packages must include a cover letter signed by the major command or direct reporting unit commander, vice commander or executive director. They also must have a nomination write-up of 30 lines or fewer on Air Force Form 1206; a one-page, single-spaced biography; and a signed and dated statement of intent.
Nominations must include examples of: leadership and job performance in the nominee’s primary duty, significant self-improvement, and base or community involvement.
All nominees must be enlisted in the Air Force through Sept. 30, 2011. Any nominee with a projected separate date before Sept. 30, 2011, must extend or re-enlist in the Air Force. These extensions can be approved or disapproved by local military personnel section officials; they do not have to be approved by AFPC. Nominees who extend their enlistments for the award program and are not selected may cancel their extensions through their local military personnel sections.
For more information on the program or to download nomination forms, visit AFPC’s Ask site and type “12 OAY” into the search function, or call the Total Force Service Center at 800-525-0102.
