AF transfers 72 acres at former Kelly AFB
Posted : Wednesday Oct 14, 2009 11:53:23 EDT
The Air Force last month transferred 72 acres of the former Kelly Air Force Base, Texas, to Port San Antonio, the local redevelopment authority responsible for revitalizing the former base.
Since Kelly’s closure in 1995, over 1,500 acres — 80 percent of the property — have been given to the local community. The remaining 370 acres are scheduled to be transferred in 2010. Almost 65 commercial organizations have already set up shop at the Port, including Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
