Lt. cols. can apply for deputy commander jobs

Eligible lieutenant colonels may now apply for deputy commander positions in mission support groups for 2010, the Air Force Personnel Center announced Wednesday.

Applications must be e-mailed to AFPC’s base support officer assignments section by Nov. 20.

Applicants must have at least three years time on station and must plan to fill the deputy commander positions for at least three years, unless they have to move in summer 2010. Must-move officers include graduating squadron commanders or those completing a joint assignment.

Officers who are not in a must-move situation and have less than three years time on station must have a waiver request signed by their wing commander.

Line officers in any Air Force specialty may apply if they have been released by their assignment team and can obtain endorsement from their senior rater. Applicants also must have a current Airman Development Plan updated with their career desires and assignment location preferences.

Applicants will remain candidates for these deputy commander positions through the 2010 summer assignments cycle.
