No injuries in Minot payload transporter crash

BERTHOLD, N.D. — Authorities have secured an area near Berthold where a vehicle used to carry missile parts from Minot Air Force Base overturned.
Officials said the vehicle carried no nuclear materials, but they worried that rocket fuel might spill. They said the amount of liquid rocket fuel on board is small and they see no danger of an explosion.
The payload transporter vehicle belonging to the base’s 91st Missile Wing overturned about 10 miles northwest of Berthold. Officials said it was carrying unarmed rocket engine parts of the Minuteman III missile.
No injuries were reported from the crash.
Base spokeswoman Laurie Arellano said the truck was carrying engine parts for Minuteman III missiles. She said the equipment must be tested to make sure it’s safe to move, and that process can take a couple of days.
