Neb. Guardsmen join 4-state exercise

LINCOLN, Neb. — National Guard officials say people may be seeing more of their Guard airplanes and soldiers over the next few days.
Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas units are part of Vigilant Guard 09, which runs through June 24.
The exercise will simulate regional emergencies, in part to practice the states’ cooperative response; simulated train derailments in Kansas and Iowa; and the release of a manmade biological agent.
About 300 Nebraska National Guard members will participate.
