KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. — Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque is set to gain 243 military and 187 civilian positions beginning with the next fiscal year on Sept. 30.
The base says many of the new jobs are meant to strengthen and support the Air Force’s nuclear mission — directly or indirectly.
More than half the military positions will go to the base’s munitions maintenance group, its nuclear systems squadron and groups and the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.
