HELENA, Mont. — The commander of Montana’s National Guard named a replacement Thursday for the assistant adjutant general who the Guard said was relieved of command because he had an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate.
Brig. Gen. John Walsh, the Guard’s commander and adjutant general, named Brig. Gen. Bradley Livingston assistant adjutant general for the Montana Air National Guard. He replaces Brig. Gen. John Del Toro, who was fired from that post last month.
Livingston has spent the past six years as director of the Guard’s Joint Force Headquarters, combining the efforts of the Montana Army and Air National Guards into a joint headquarters.
Livingston earlier held command positions in the 120th Fighter Wing, including mission support group commander and vice wing commander.
Walsh also announced the appointment of Col. Joel Cusker as chief of the joint staff of the Montana Joint Force Headquarters; and Col. Kendall Switzer as Cusker’s vice chief of staff.
Cusker brings 31 years of experience to his new post. He most recently served as vice chief of the joint staff and was director of personnel and manpower and director of operations for the Joint Force Headquarters.
In December 2003, Cusker returned from an operational assignment as an embedded trainer to the Afghanistan National Army in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Switzer becomes vice chief of the Joint Force Headquarters staff after two years as director of information management for the Montana National Guard Joint Force Headquarters.
