ATLANTIC, Va. — A Minotaur I rocket has blasted off from Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
The rocket was launched from Wallops Flight Facility in Atlantic at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday. The launch was originally set for May 5 but the weather has not cooperated.
Scientists say the Minotaur I will deliver into orbit an 880-pound Air Force TacSet-3 satellite intended to give U.S. troops the upper hand in combat situations.
The satellite is designed to deliver battle imagery to U.S. troop commanders with much greater speed and detail.
