EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Security guards on Eglin Air Force Base shot and wounded a man who led them on a chase through the Panhandle military reservation.
Authorities say 39-year-old Ronald Willard of Fort Walton Beach was taken by helicopter to a Pensacola hospital for treatment after he was shot in the stomach Tuesday morning.
Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Michele Nicholson says Willard was involved in a dispute with another man around 3 a.m. in the Panhandle town of Shalimar. Deputies began chasing him after he shot and wounded that man. The chase ended more than four hours later on the military reservation.
