Spec ops general to take over ISR agency
Posted : Saturday Nov 15, 2008 9:02:16 EST
A career special operations officer is set to take command of the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency.
The Air Force announced Friday that Brig. Gen. Bradley A. Heithold, who has been selected for promotion to major general, will lead the ISR Agency, headquartered at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Heithold now serves as director of plans, programs, requirements and assessments at Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Fla.
Heithold spent most of his flying career as an AC-130 gunship navigator. He went on to command the 347th Rescue Wing at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., and was vice commander of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center in Georgia.
Heithold takes over from Maj. Gen. John Koziol, a career intelligence officer nominated for promotion to lieutenant general and assignment as deputy under secretary of defense (intelligence), for Joint and Coalition Warfighter Support, at the Pentagon.
No date has been announced for the change of command.
At Hurlburt, Brig. Gen. Thomas J. Trask, now the commander of AFSOC’s 23rd Air Force and the command’s director, operations, will fill Heithold’s vacant position.
