Posted : Monday Nov 3, 2008 18:35:14 EST
A new commander has been selected for airmen helping to establish the Iraqi air force.
Brig. Gen. Robert C. Kane, now the vice commander of Air Mobility Command’s 18th Air Force, was named Friday to command the Coalition Air Force Transition Team, Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq, headquartered in Baghdad.
Kane takes over from Brig. Gen. Brooks L. Bash, who was selected for promotion to major general and reassignment as AMC’s director of operations. Bash has overseen the Iraqi training program since March.
Replacing Kane at the 18th will be Brig. Gen. Margaret H. Woodward, commander, 89th Airlift Wing, at Andrews Air Force Base, Md. The 89th is home to Air Force One.
