New Air Guard commander nominated

President Bush on Tuesday nominated the adjutant general of the Oklahoma National Guard to command the Air National Guard.
If approved by the Senate, Maj. Gen. Harry M. Wyatt III will earn a third star and replace Gen. Craig R. McKinley, who now commands the Air and Army National Guard.
Much of Wyatt’s Guard career has focused on fighter operations with the 138th Fighter Wing in Tulsa, Okla. After earning a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University in 1971 and graduating from Officer Training School, Wyatt began Air Force pilot training. He flew as an active-duty F-106 pilot out of Minot Air Force Base, N.D. In 1977, he joined the Oklahoma Guard and became adjutant general in 2003.
As a civilian, Wyatt earned a law degree in 1980 from the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa, and served as state judge.
