Deal struck to open March to private aircraft

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — A tentative deal has been struck to open the March Air Reserve Base to general aviation.
March Joint Powers Authority executive director Lori Stone says Riverside County’s longtime military base — once March Air Force Base — would be open to private aircraft under the agreement.
Currently, only air-cargo giant DHL shares the runway with military and public safety operations at the base between Moreno Valley and Riverside.
The March Joint Powers Commission, which oversees civilian operations at the joint-use air base, is expected to consider the tentative agreement May 21.
