Posted : Thursday May 8, 2008 8:43:36 EDT
The 35th Services Squadron at Misawa Air Base, Japan, has won the 2008 Maj. Gen. Eugene L. Eubank Award given annually to the best services squadron in Pacific Air Forces, the base announced Tuesday.
The squadron will now compete for the honor of best services squadron in the Air Force, which will be announced in late May, according to a base press release.
“It’s a great deal of teamwork, commitment and ingenuity that goes into this effort,” Maj. Patrick Sollami, the squadron commander, said in a statement. “All members of team Misawa played a role in this significant achievement.”
Some of the programs that earned Misawa the award were the 32 base fitness programs, the role the squadron played in preparing for the Pacific Air Forces operational readiness inspection, youth sports programs and improvements to quality-of-life initiatives, according to the release.
The Eubank award was established in 1990 to recognize the excellence of services squadrons.
